what is ethical sourcing?
Good energy starts with good sourcing.
Unfortunately, many crystal shops have no idea where their crystals are coming from, and how they are sourced. Many shops only go for the best price they can find.
Coast to Coast Crystals is committed to responsibly sourcing each and every crystal, and we have been focused on this throughout our entire business journey thus far.
The words, “ethically sourced”, have been thrown around the crystal community for quite some time now, and many shops just say “yes” without even understanding what that truly means.
“Ethically sourced” is an 'umbrella' term. Nothing can be labeled as such with 100% certainty without going to each individual mine and being there throughout the entire process of mining, polishing, cutting, etc.
Our crystals come from all over the world, and it is impossible to follow each material from hand to hand. Due to this fact, we choose to use the terms “responsibly” and “consciously” sourced.
These labels show our dedication and commitment to ensure certain standards for mining the crystals that end up in your hands. For us, this looks like many, many sleepless nights researching each supplier, each country, each mineral, and political events that surround the topic of minerals and crystals.
Whilst communicating with suppliers, I try my best to follow my intuition based on the information given to me. We try to research which countries are exploiting these minerals for money to fund wars and anything else that goes against our ethical beliefs. We highly prefer to work with small family-owned operations.
Questions we ask our suppliers:
- Are the working conditions safe?
- Are they given fair pay?
- Was there child labor involved?
- Is there minimal environmental impact?
